How much does a martial arts gym website cost?
A martial arts gym website costs between $0 and $8,000 up front, or $100–$600 a month on a subscription. A custom site built specifically for the trial-class funnel runs $3,000–$5,000 one-time, or around $150/mo with hosting and edits included. Anything under $1,000 is a template; anything over $8,000 is usually a general agency charging for time it spends learning what a gym is.
What the price actually buys
The range is wide because “a website” describes four very different products. Here’s what a gym gets at each level, based on the few hundred gym sites we’ve torn down.
| Option | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| DIY page builder | $0–$300/yr | Squarespace, Wix, GoDaddy. Fast to launch, slow to load, invisible to AI crawlers. Fine as a placeholder, expensive as a funnel. |
| Template shop | $500–$1,500 | A themed WordPress install with your logo dropped in. Same schedule-as-PDF problems, plus plugin maintenance you now own. |
| Custom, gym-specific | $3,000–$5,000 or ~$150/mo | Built around the trial funnel by someone who knows what a fundamentals class is. Readable schedule, bookable trials, sub-second mobile. |
| General agency | $6,000–$15,000 | Good design, usually. But the first $3,000 is them learning your business, and the funnel logic is borrowed from dentists and plumbers. |
When it costs more
Multiple locations, a members-only area, online course sales, or a custom booking system all push a build past $5,000 legitimately. So does bad photography — if you need a shoot, budget $500–$1,500 locally and don’t pay an agency’s markup on it.
What shouldn’t cost more: “SEO setup” as a line item (it should be in the build), “mobile optimisation” (there is no other kind), or a CMS licence you’ll never log into.
When it costs less
A single-program gym with one location, decent photos already, and a schedule that fits on one screen is a simpler build. Ask for a quote scoped to that — a good shop will come in under the top of the range rather than pad it.
The number that matters more than price
At a $165 average membership, one retained member covers a $147/mo site. A site that books three more trials a month than your current one, at a typical 40% trial-to-member conversion, pays for itself several times over. Price the site against that, not against the template.
MatGrowth builds gym sites for $497 to start plus $147/mo, or $3,800 one-time. That’s the “custom, gym-specific” row above, priced as a subscription so the setup is cheap and we stay accountable for it working. Full pricing here.
